tankpants: concept art…monkey or donkey?

The image “http://www.deepmachines.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/02/testpic11.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

In the beginning, the monkey was the star of the game. But things change. After some thought and discussion, it was agreed upon (mostly) that monkeys were done to death. Donkeys are funnier… at least i think so. And we would only have to change one letter. The ladies seem to hate the donkey, but as I’ve said before, it’s really just about the pants.

introducing…perfect monkey tankpants: severity 2000

http://www.deepmachines.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/02/pmtp1.jpg

Our first original game is called Perfect Monkey Tankpants: Severity 2000. The short story - a donkey arrives in Times Square on the New Year’s Eve during y2k, wearing a tank instead of pants, blowing things up. Actually, the tank is the pants. And the tankpants are severe.

The long story is much longer… it involves flashbacks to French Canadia, a troublesome relationship with a jackass monkey, denim theft, gender confusion, and much unecessary violence.

The game will be a fast-paced flash-based shooter where you control the jilted donkey. You will use your perfect tankpants and an arsenal of weapons hidden beneath the fly to destroy everything that moves. In coming posts, we’ll be showing concept art, character design, theme song lyrics, animation tests, and other related severity.

BON CHANCE

about deep machines

imagethumb

Big Spaceship’s Deep Machines is a projection of our daily gaming grind; of passions and opinions, habits and weaknesses.  We have monkey loads of game ideas and we’re curious to see if any of this silliness can translate into fun times.  We want to develop our own games, but not stray too far from sensible gameplay.  We want designs that razzle, but not dazzle for the sake of razdazzlement.  Old school is our preferred choice, but we aren’t fanboys.  We roll where the fun goes.

It won’t always be about us.  The Deep Machines blog will showcase our games and peek sneaks at their development but it will also be a place for you to share your own gaming triumphs and shames, gripes and ideas; a projection of your own daily gaming grind.
