Game Tunnel has posted the annual list of the top indie games of the year. I could only check out Titan Attacks since it was the only one available for the Mac, but it was worth it. Twitchy good fun and, as Game Tunnel points out, excellent upgrades. A lot of care went into this one!

DICEWARS is one of the most addictive casual games I’ve played in a long time. Reminds me of playing b&w Risk on my Mac Classic but with some differences in how your “troops” get allocated.
I was happy to see that Ryan Dewsbury put together a multiplayer version, and it raised a question we think a lot about here - what other single-player games would make good multiplayer games? Post your answers in the comments.

The end of the year always brings the inevitable lists of predictions for the year upcoming. This year is no different, and frankly I’m a sucker for them in any form. At Read/Write Web they’ve published the initial results of their readers poll predicting the Biggest Web Trend of 2007 and the results are interesting.While I can’t say it’s shocking that web video is the big vote getter, I’m surprised to see RIAs fall so low on people’s radar. Not to say that mobile web won’t improve drastically (because it has such a long way to go) but I think browser-based apps are somewhat overvalued here. Now perhaps people are being way more discerning than I am and are calculating release dates and penetration time for Apollo and competitors and that browser-based apps will still rule in 07 before RIAs make a surge in 08. I could accept that… I think.
